Beijing, August 20th (Xinhua) Chinese President Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission meets with China's Olympic delegation for Paris 2024 at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Aug. 20. He emphasized that at the Paris Olympics, you united as one, fought tenaciously, strived to be the first, fulfilled your mission, and achieved the best result in the history of China's overseas participation in the Summer Olympics, achieving both competition results and spiritual civilization, and winning honors for our country and people. On behalf of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council, he welcomes everyone's triumphant return, extends warm congratulations and sincere condolences to everyone, and expresses warm greetings to comrades on the national sports front.

Amidst warm applause, General Secretary Xi Jinping delivered an important speech. He said that the outstanding achievements of the Chinese sports delegation are not only a concentrated reflection of the development and progress of China's sports cause, but also a microcosm of the achievements of Chinese path to modernization, fully demonstrating the strength of China in the new era. The prosperity of national sports leads to the prosperity of sports, and the strength of a country leads to the strength of sports. China's ability to become one of the world's major sports powers and Olympic powers is fundamentally due to the continuous enhancement of its comprehensive national strength, which provides advanced technological support and solid material guarantees for sports competition training, and also creates a favorable growth environment and a broad mass foundation for sports talents in various fields to stand out. In the new era and new journey, comprehensively promoting the construction of a powerful country and the rejuvenation of the nation with Chinese path to modernization will provide better conditions and inject strong impetus into the development of China's sports.
