President Xi Jinping pointed out that the friendship between China and Suriname has a long and enduring history. Suriname is one of the first Caribbean countries to establish diplomatic relations with New China, establish strategic partnership with China, and sign the "Belt and Road" cooperation plan with China. The two countries have always respected and treated each other equally, becoming a model of South South cooperation. The Chinese side is willing to work together with Suriname to further consolidate political mutual trust, strengthen economic and trade cooperation, expand cultural and cultural exchanges, close international cooperation, and promote the construction of a closer China and Suriname strategic partnership, better benefiting the people of both countries.

Suriname is one of the countries with the largest number of overseas Chinese in the Caribbean and the first country in the Western Hemisphere to take the Chinese Spring Festival as a legal holiday. Both sides should continue to encourage cultural exchanges, facilitate personnel exchanges, and jointly build Confucius Institutes. Strengthen local cooperation and continuously enrich the connotation of exchanges and cooperation between the two countries. China has provided valuable help to Suriname in combating the COVID-19 and in its economic and social development, and the cooperation between the two countries in agriculture, health, infrastructure and other fields has yielded fruitful results. All these reflect the high political mutual trust and profound brotherhood between the two countries, which has greatly contributed to Suriname's economic development and improvement of people's livelihood, and set a model for South South cooperation. President Xi Jinping put forward important global initiatives such as jointly building the "Belt and Road" and the global development initiative, and advocated an equal and orderly world multipolarization and inclusive economic globalization. The two heads of state stepped onto the reviewing platform, the military band played the national anthems of China and the Soviet Union, and 21 salutes were fired at Tiananmen Square. President Chandrikapersad Santokhii, accompanied by President Xi Jinping, reviewed the Chinese People's Liberation Army Honor Guard and watched the parade.
