President Xi Jinping welcomed the visit of the American business community and strategic academia to China in the warm spring.   Whether China and the United States cooperate or confront is related to the well-being of the two peoples and the future and destiny of humanity. The success of China and the United States is an opportunity for each other. As long as both sides regard each other as partners, respect each other, coexist peacefully, and cooperate for mutual benefit, China US relations will improve. This year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the United States. The history of China US relations is a history of friendly exchanges between the two peoples. In the past, it was written by the people, and in the future, it will be created by the people. There is a Chinese saying that goes, from good to evil, from evil to collapse. I hope that people from all walks of life in both countries can come and communicate more, continuously accumulate consensus, enhance trust, eliminate various interferences, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, bring more tangible benefits to the people of both countries, and inject more stability into the world.

President Xi Jinping carefully listened to the speeches of the US representatives and responded to their concerns one by one.

President Xi Jinping pointed out that the Chinese economy is healthy and sustainable. Last year, China's economic growth rate ranked among the top among major economies in the world, and its contribution to global economic growth continued to exceed 30%. This was achieved by the Chinese people and cannot be separated from international cooperation. China's development has gone through various difficulties and challenges to reach today. In the past, it did not collapse due to the "China Collapse Theory", and now it will not collapse due to the "China Summit Theory". We will continue to promote high-quality development and Chinese path to modernization, which will not only enable the Chinese people to live a better life, but also make greater contributions to the sustainable development of the world. China's development prospects are bright, and we have the confidence and confidence to do so.

President Xi Jinping pointed out that I have repeatedly said that reform and opening up is an important tool for contemporary China to catch up with the times with great strides. China's reform will not pause, and its opening up will not stop. We are planning and implementing a series of major measures to comprehensively deepen reforms, continuously building a market-oriented, legal, and internationalized first-class business environment, and providing broader development space for enterprises from various countries, including the United States. In the face of new situations and changes in the economic and trade relations between China and the United States in recent years, both sides should adhere to mutual respect, mutual benefit, equal consultation, act in accordance with economic and market rules, expand and deepen mutually beneficial economic and trade cooperation, respect each other's development rights, and pursue win-win cooperation between China and the United States and the world. American enterprises are welcome to participate more in the joint construction of the "the Belt and Road", participate in large-scale economic and trade activities such as the China International Import Expo, and continue to invest in China, deepen China's cultivation, and win in China.

President Xi Jinping emphasized that in recent years, China US relations have experienced many twists and turns, as well as severe challenges, and the lessons learned from them are worth learning. The relationship between China and the United States cannot go back to the past, but there can be a better future. Last year when I met with President Biden in San Francisco, the biggest consensus was that China US relations should stabilize and improve. In the past few months, the teams on both sides have maintained communication and made progress in various fields such as political diplomacy, economic and trade finance, law enforcement and drug control, climate change, and cultural exchanges based on the consensus reached between me and President Biden. Under the current situation, the common interests between China and the United States have not decreased, but rather increased. Whether it is traditional fields such as economy and trade, agriculture, or emerging fields such as climate change and artificial intelligence, China and the United States should become a driving force for each other's development, rather than a hindrance. To promote global economic recovery and solve international and regional hot issues, it is necessary for China and the United States to coordinate and cooperate, demonstrate the broad mindedness of a major country, and take on the responsibility of a major country. The United States should work towards China, establish a correct strategic understanding, handle sensitive issues properly, maintain the momentum of stabilizing China US relations, actively explore ways to get along correctly, and promote the sustained, stable, and healthy development of China US relations.

Representatives from the United States, including Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Committee on US China Relations, Greenberg, Chairman and CEO of Blackstone Group, Su Shimin, President and CEO of Qualcomm, Amon, Founding Dean of the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, Allison, and President of the National Committee on US China Trade, Allen, thanked the President Xi Jinping for taking the time to meet. They stated that in the past few decades, China has achieved extraordinary economic growth and transformation, demonstrating strong resilience and vitality. Under the outstanding leadership of the President Xi Jinping, China is committed to developing new productive forces and achieving more sustainable and high-quality development. The development rights of the Chinese people should be respected. I believe that China will achieve its own development goals and promote global economic development and integration. A strong and prosperous China is the positive energy of the world. The economic relationship between the United States and China is closely interdependent, and only through peaceful coexistence can the two countries achieve their respective development and prosperity. The Thucydides trap is not inevitable. American companies appreciate China's recent series of important measures to further reform and opening up, and are optimistic about the prospects of China's economic development. They will firmly continue to cultivate China and develop long-term and close cooperation with China. The successful meeting between the President Xi Jinping and President Biden in San Francisco in November last year has boosted expectations and confidence in the future of US China relations from all sectors of the United States and the world. The business and strategic academic communities in the United States support both sides in strengthening exchanges and exchanges at all levels, enhancing mutual understanding, trust, and cooperation, working together to address global challenges, and promoting the establishment of stable, sustainable, and productive US China relations.

Wang Yi attended the meeting.
