On the afternoon of December 13, local time, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and President of the People's Republic of China, and his wife Peng Liyuan, together with Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and his wife, met with representatives of young people from China and Vietnam in Hanoi.

When General Secretary Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan arrived at the National Convention Centre, they were warmly welcomed by Vietnamese youth representatives.

General Secretary Xi Jinping and his wife and General Secretary Ruan Fuzhong took a cordial photo with representatives of young people and friendly people from China and Vietnam.

The atmosphere of the meeting between friendly people and young people from China and Vietnam was warm, and the flowers and the national flags of the two countries reflected each other, conversing into a sea of joy.

In the warm applause, General Secretary Xi Jinping delivered an important speech entitled "Continuing the traditional friendship and creating a new journey to build a community with a shared future between China and Vietnam".

On behalf of the Chinese Party and the government, General Secretary Xi Jinping extended cordial greetings to the new and old friends who are committed to the friendship between China and Vietnam. General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that yesterday, I and General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong announced the construction of a strategic community of shared future between China and Vietnam, which opened a new stage in the development of bilateral relations between China and Vietnam. This is a major strategic decision we made from the perspective of revitalising world socialism and realising the long-term peace between China and Vietnam. It is deeply rooted in the traditional friendship between China and Vietnam and is in line with the common interests and common aspirations of the two peoples.

Looking back on the past, we are like-minded and help each other. Since modern times, the two parties of China and Vietnam and the people of the two countries have adhered to their common ideals and beliefs, and supported each other in the process of striving for national independence and national liberation. President Ho Chi Minh's famous poem "Deep friendship between Vietnam and China, comrades and brothers" has become the indelible historical memory of the people of the two countries for that glorious years. Based on the present, our original intention is like a rock and win-win cooperation. Over the past 15 years since the establishment of a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, the two parties of China and Vietnam have adhered to the people-centred approach, vigourously promoted mutually beneficial cooperation, and brought tangible benefits to the people of the two countries. Looking forward to the future, our future is related and destiny is shared. China is comprehensively promoting the construction of a strong country and national rejuvenation with Chinese-style modernisation, and Vietnam is vigourously promoting the modernisation of industrialisation. China unswervingly follows the path of peaceful development, adheres to the peripheral diplomatic policy of kindness and companionship with neighbours and the concept of friendly, sincere and inclusive peripheral diplomacy, so that Chinese-style modernisation can benefit more neighbouring countries.

General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasised that the friendship between China and Vietnam is rooted in the people and the youth in the future. General Secretary Xi Jinping put forward three hopes for the youth of the two countries:

First, I hope that you will carry forward China-Vietnam friendship and play your part in building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future that carries strategic significance. With remarkable economic and social advances, China and Vietnam demonstrate to the world that we have found the right development paths. And enhanced solidarity and cooperation will strengthen our socialist causes. I hope that people committed to China-Vietnam friendship in various sectors in both countries, especially the young people, will take the lead in promoting our friendship, and contribute to our respective hundred-year pursuit of development goals and to the building of a China-Vietnam community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.

Second, I hope that you will play your part in promoting the development of the Asia Pacific and contribute to enduring peace in our region. Our two countries have made tremendous achievement through, respectively, China’s reform and opening up and Vietnam’s Doi Moi (reform) policy. This is credited not only to our own endeavors, but also to a peaceful, open and inclusive Asia Pacific. The Asia Pacific is the place which we call home. It is a source of power driving global growth. Openness, inclusiveness and mutually beneficial cooperation are the right course to follow. We should strive to build an Asia Pacific community, create more momentum to boost solidarity and make advances, and make greater contributions to making Asia Pacific more harmonious and prosperous.

Third, I hope that you will be pioneers in promoting human progress and contribute to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind. Our two Parties are both Marxist parties that bear in mind the overall interests of the world, and our two countries are both responsible members of the international community. And both of us should play a major role in advancing human progress. To build a community with a shared future for mankind is an inspiring goal, a goal that requires generations of efforts to achieve. We should be visionary, look beyond the horizon and shoulder responsibilities entrusted upon us by the times, stand up for international fairness and justice, and contribute our share to global development.
     General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasised that we should not forget the time and the way to go. The arduous course and brilliant achievements of the development and growth of the socialist cause of China and Vietnam fully show that strengthening unity and cooperation is an important historical experience for the two countries to overcome all risks and challenges on the way forward and constantly move from victory to victory. We should always remain true to our original aspiration, keep our mission firmly in mind, and work together to take our own socialist road, so that the achievements of industrialisation and modernisation can benefit the two people more, and jointly make greater contributions to the cause of human progress.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong said that under the leadership of the Communist Party, Vietnam and China have always firmly supported each other in the cause of national independence, national liberation and socialist construction. There is a deep friendship between Vietnam and China, and comrades and brothers. Vietnam always remembers and thanks China for its long-term valuable support for Vietnam. In the 15 years since the establishment of the comprehensive strategic cooperative relationship between Vietnam and China, the political mutual trust between the two countries has been increasingly strengthened, and the pragmatic cooperation has yielded fruitful results. In the past two days, the streets and alleys of Hanoi have been filled with a festive and warm atmosphere, and General Secretary Xi Jinping and President's state visit to Vietnam has been a complete success. I and General Secretary Xi Jinping jointly declared that the construction of a community with a shared future of strategic significance is a historical milestone in Vietnam-China relations, which will certainly bring more tangible well-being to the two peoples and make greater contributions to the cause of peace and progress for mankind. The future of Vietnam-China relations is in the youth. It is hoped that the young people of the two countries will have an in-depth understanding and inherit and carry forward the deep friendship concluded by the leaders of the older generation, so as to promote the long-term and stable development of the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and China and inject new vitality into the continuous growth of the socialist cause of Vietnam and China.

Representatives of China and Vietnam also reported on the friendly exchanges between the two countries. They said that on the occasion of General Secretary Xi Jinping's historic state visit to Vietnam, the General Secretaries of the two parties personally took the time to meet with friendly people and youth representatives from China and Vietnam, which fully reflected the great importance and high expectations of the leaders of the two parties of the two countries for the youth and friendship between China and Vietnam. The two General Secretaries announced that the joint construction of a strategic community of destiny is in line with the common aspirations and fundamental interests of the two peoples, and is in line with the trend of the times of peace, cooperation and development. It will certainly lead the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between China and Vietnam to open up better new prospects and set an example of neighbouring neighbouring countries with sincerity and tolerance. The young people of the two countries will inherit and carry forward the traditional friendship of "comrades and brothers", closely exchange and exchange, strengthen mutual learning, deepen mutual trust and friendship, realise the goal of "a stronger public opinion foundation" put forward by the two general secretaries, and make positive efforts and contributions to the construction of a community with a shared future between China and Vietnam.
