President Xi Jinping highly praised the fruitful work carried out by the International Committee of the Red Cross in the international humanitarian field since its establishment for 160 years, and appreciated the important contributions made by the International Committee of the Red Cross to world peace and progress.

President Xi Jinping pointed out that the world today is experiencing unprecedented changes, and human society is facing many challenges, some of which are familiar and some are new. In this situation, China is not alone, but strengthens cooperation with countries around the world, jointly explores solutions, and promotes the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind. My proposal to jointly build the "the Belt and Road" initiative, the global development initiative, the global security initiative, and the global civilization initiative is to work with all countries in the world to achieve economic development, improve people's livelihood, and achieve mutual benefit and win-win results, so as to provide Chinese ideas and solutions for strengthening global governance and humanitarian governance.

President Xi Jinping emphasized that humanitarianism is the greatest consensus that can unite different civilizations. The ideas of "benevolent love others" and "do not do to others what you do not want" contained in traditional Chinese culture are integrated with the purpose of the International Red Cross Movement. Adhering to the concept of people first, China has won the largest battle against poverty in human history. In the face of the COVID-19, China has not only protected the lives and health of its own people, but also carried out the largest global humanitarian assistance in history. Facts have proven that China is an active supporter, participant, and contributor to the international humanitarian cause. China is willing to further cooperate closely with the International Committee of the Red Cross to make important contributions to promoting human peace and progress.

Mirjana Spoljaric Egger expressed congratulations to China on becoming the country with the highest number of recipients of the 49th Nightingale Prize, which demonstrates the high recognition of China's humanitarian achievements by the International Committee of the Red Cross and the international community. China has always respected and implemented international humanitarian law. The joint construction of the "the Belt and Road" has promoted world development and contributed to the global humanitarian cause. The International Committee of the Red Cross highly appreciates China's positive role and important contribution to the international humanitarian cause, and looks forward to further deepening cooperation with China to jointly make new contributions to promoting world peace and development as well as the international humanitarian cause.
