Masai Mara National Wildlife Reserve is located in the border area between Kenya and Tanzania in the southwest, and is connected with Tanzania Serengeti Animal Reserve. The reserve was built in 1961 and covers an area of 1800 square kilometers. There are a large number of animals in the Reserve, about 95 kinds of mammals and 450 kinds of birds. It is one of the best wildlife reserves (game reserves) in the world. In the early 1930s, Hemingway, a famous American writer, visited here and wrote a book named "Africa's Green Mountains" in 1935, which vividly described the diverse and colorful wildlife life here. Many scenes from the famous TV program Animal World were shot here.

The Mara River in Africa flows through Kenya and Tanzania in Africa, with a total length of 395 kilometers and a drainage area of 13504 square kilometers, of which 60% is located in Kenya and 40% in Tanzania. The river originates from the rainy mountains of Kenya and flows continuously even in the dry season. In the rainy season from March to June, the river water will rise steeply, and the final amount of water can be more than twice the usual amount. Every year, wild animals cross the Mara River and migrate back and forth between Masai Mara National Park in Kenya and Serengeti National Park in Tanzania, playing an important role in the world's spectacular wildlife migration. The surging torrent and the sniping of crocodiles are the most difficult and spectacular scene, which is called the Mara River Crossing or the Heavenly Kingdom Crossing.

Tarek is the second largest river that flows through Masai Mara Grassland only next to Mala River. It originates from Ol Kinyei area in the northeast of Masai Mara Reserve, passes through the middle of Masai Mara Reserve from east to west, and finally flows into Mala River in the north-south direction. Like the Mala River, there are many hotels along the Tarek River. In the big migration season, you can also see wildebeest crossing the river here, but the scale and shock are inferior to the Mala River.
