Delphi is located 170 kilometers northwest of Athens, leaning on Mount Parnassus and the cliffs of Odorias. It is the birthplace of the ancient Greek oracles, where Apollo once issued the oracles. In ancient times, it was considered to be the center of the known world, the place where the heaven and the earth meet, and it is known as the "navel of the world". In 1987, UNESCO inscribed Delphi on the World Heritage List.
The ruins of Delphi are religious sites in the classical period of Greece. The ruins are located in the foothills of Parnassos, northwest of Athens. They are named after the Delphi people who lived there. Founded in the 7th century BC, it was considered the center of the world in ancient Greece, the religious center and a symbol of unity in ancient Greece.
