At present, China's standardized cancer screening is mostly carried out by state-led large-scale population screening projects. The clinical service providers of opportunistic cancer screening are mainly public and commercial physical examination institutions. The country has not yet carried out unified and effective standardized management on the providers of cancer screening clinical services.

Ji Jiafu, director of the major surgery department of Peking University Cancer Hospital and director of the Gastrointestinal Cancer Center, suggested that the State should take the lead in developing guidelines for cancer opportunistic screening, guide screening programs for individuals who actively seek cancer prevention screening, certify the compliance and quality of medical institutions undertaking cancer screening, and provide standardized training and professional qualification certification for practitioners undertaking cancer opportunistic screening. At the same time, we should also strengthen the supply-side reform of cancer screening, integrate the source resources of cancer screening service providers, establish a sound long-term management of cancer screening and health information interconnection mechanism, avoid repeated screening and over-screening, and promote accurate cancer prevention.
