At 19:58, in the music of Peace - A Community of Destiny, President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan, together with Acting President of the International Student Sports Federation, Ed, stepped into the rostrum and waved to the audience. There was a long round of warm applause from the audience.

In the center of the venue, the Chinese cultural heritage symbol "Sun God Bird" rotates smartly, and the twelve golden lights are shining. The fireworks bloomed in the air with countdown numbers, and the audience shouted in unison with the numbers. In the cheers, the gorgeous fireworks bloomed in the night sky. The opening ceremony of the Chengdu Universiade officially began.

With the children of Daliangshan singing "The National Flag is so beautiful" and the singing of "Singinging the Motherland" by the youth of 56 ethnic groups, eight honor guards took firm steps to escort the national flag of the People's Republic of China into the scene. Everyone stood up and sang the national anthem of the People's Republic of China. The five-star red flag is rising and flying in the wind.

At 20:07, the entrance ceremony of the athletes began, and the sports delegations of college students from 113 countries and regions entered one after another along the "Beautiful Road" paved by the Shujin pattern, which was warmly welcomed by the audience. The host Chinese delegation finally entered. Xi Jinping got up and waved his hand. The whole audience was jubilant, and the applause and cheers came one after another. There are more than 700 Chinese delegations, including 411 athletes, who will participate in all 18 major events of this Universiade.

Huai Jinpeng, chairman of the organizing committee of the Chengdu Universiade, delivered a speech. On behalf of the organizing committee of the Chengdu Universiade, he extended a warm welcome to athletes, coaches, technical officials and guests from various countries and regions around the world, wishing them to carry forward the spirit of sports, show their youth and build unity and friendship.

Eight outstanding young athletes and volunteer representatives from China entered with the flag of the International University Sports Federation. At 21:40, the main torch lighting ceremony began. In the past month or so, the torch of the Universiade, taken from Turin, Italy, has been passed by many universities in Beijing, Harbin, Shenzhen, Chongqing, Yibin and Chengdu, and finally arrived at the main stadium of Dong'an Lake Sports Park.　　

In the middle of the venue, the sacred flame plate with the "Sun God Bird" pattern slowly rose. Astronaut Ye Guangfu and 31 other torchbearers raised the torch and entered the site. Under the attention of the public, the torchbearer ran to the front of the sacred flame plate, surrounded in a circle, and lit the "sun god bird" with the torch in his hand. In an instant, it was full of light. The torch of the Universiade is burning brightly, conveying the bright wishes of college students all over the world.

"Light up the world, hear the song of life" "Light up the future, look at the beautiful distance"... Young college students gathered under the sacred flame and sang the opening theme song "Achieving Dreams" together, turning the whole stadium into a sea of joy.　　

The international distinguished guests attending the opening ceremony were: Indonesian President Joko and his wife Iliana, Mauritania President Ghazwani, Burundian President Ndaj Schmyje, Guyana President Ali, and Georgian Prime Minister Garibashvili.
