On the afternoon of October 10, President Xi Jinping met in the Great Hall of the People with Prime Minister of the Solomon Islands Manasseh Sogavare, who was paying an official visit to China. Both sides jointly announced that China and Solomon Islands have officially established a comprehensive strategic partnership of mutual respect and common development in the new era.

President Xi Jinping pointed out that China and the Solomon Islands are trustworthy good friends and reliable brothers to each other. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the friendly cooperation between the two countries has come from behind and has been at the forefront of China's relations with Pacific island countries, becoming a model of unity, cooperation, and joint development among countries of different sizes and developing countries. The fact has proven that the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the Solomon Islands conforms to the trend of the times, conforms to the international trend, and is in line with the fundamental interests of the two peoples. It is the correct choice. China is willing to strengthen strategic communication with the Solomon Islands, deepen cooperation in various fields, and promote the stable and long-term development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, so as to better benefit the people of both countries.

President Xi Jinping emphasized that China highly appreciates Solomon Islands' firm adherence to the One China principle, supports Solomon Islands in safeguarding sovereignty, security, and development interests, and supports Solomon Islands' independent choice of development path. The Chinese side insists on doing its own thing well, always being a builder of world peace, a contributor to global development, and a defender of the international order. It is willing to share with Solomon Islands the development opportunities brought by Chinese path to modernization, strengthen the connection between the joint construction of the "the Belt and Road" and Solomon Islands' "2035 Development Strategy", expand practical cooperation in various fields, and expand the import of superior products from Solomon Islands, Assist Solomon Islands in achieving development, revitalization, and long-term stability. China supports more Chinese enterprises to invest and develop in the Solomon Islands and will continue to provide economic and technical assistance without political conditions. Both sides need to expand friendly exchanges in fields such as healthcare and education. China supports Solomon Islands in hosting the 17th Pacific Games.

President Xi Jinping pointed out that China's policy towards Pacific island countries upholds the "four full respects": firstly, fully respect the sovereignty and independence of island countries, and adhere to the equality of all countries, big and small; Secondly, fully respect the wishes of island countries and adhere to mutual consultation, construction, sharing, and win-win situation; The third is to fully respect the cultural traditions of the island nation, adhere to harmony but difference, beauty and coexistence; Fourthly, we fully respect the unity and self-improvement of island countries, support their implementation of the Blue Pacific 2050 Strategy, and contribute to building a peaceful, harmonious, secure, inclusive, and prosperous Blue Pacific. China understands that Pacific island countries are facing severe challenges from climate change and is willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with island countries in areas such as meteorological services, disaster prevention and mitigation, and clean energy, to assist island countries in implementing the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. China is willing to strengthen coordination and cooperation with the Solomon Islands, adhere to true multilateralism, uphold international fairness and justice, jointly oppose Cold War thinking and hegemonism, and maintain peace and stability in the Asia Pacific region.

Manasseh Sogavare stated that establishing diplomatic relations with China was the correct choice made by the Solomon Islands. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the relationship between the two countries has achieved fruitful results. China has become the largest infrastructure partner and reliable development partner of Solomon Islands. President Xi Jinping has presented the Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, and Global Civilization Initiative, demonstrating outstanding foresight and leadership, which Solomon Islands highly appreciates and supports. China's achievements in poverty reduction deserve the admiration and reference of the world. Solomon Islands firmly adheres to the One China principle and is willing to close high-level exchanges with China, strengthen exchanges and cooperation in trade, investment, humanities, local areas, and other fields, jointly address global challenges such as climate change, and promote the continuous development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Solomon Islands and China. The Solomon Islands opposes any actions aimed at or containing China's development.

After the meeting, the two sides issued the Joint Statement of the China and Solomon Islands on Establishing a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership of Mutual Respect and Common Development in the New Era.
