China is so large and has such a large population that it can only place the development of the country and nation on the basis of its own strength. We emphasize self-reliance and self-improvement, not being isolated from the outside world, but better connecting domestic and international markets. Only an open China can become a modern China. Development is the first priority of the CPC in governing and rejuvenating the country. We will continue to vigorously promote high-level opening-up and better protect the rights and interests of foreign investment in accordance with the law.
President Xi Jinping pointed out that China New Zealand relations have long led China's relations with developed countries. Both sides should continue to carry forward the spirit of striving for excellence and continuously consolidate and deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and New Zealand. We should continue to see each other as partners rather than opponents, as opportunities rather than threats, and consolidate the foundation of the development of China New Zealand relations. We should respect each other, treat each other as equals, be open and inclusive, and be harmonious but different. We should implement the updated version of the China New Zealand Free Trade Agreement and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, promote trade and investment liberalization and facilitation, and provide a better business environment for each other's enterprises to invest and operate in their own countries. We should strengthen exchanges and cooperation in education, culture, tourism, local and non-governmental fields, cultivate more "Rewi Alley" in the new era, and make the tree of China New Zealand friendship more flourish. We should jointly advocate for true multilateralism and a free trade system, and work together to address global challenges such as climate change. Both sides can also maintain communication and work together to help Pacific island countries develop.

President Xi Jinping pointed out that after the closing of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China last year, I invited General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng to visit and jointly steer the development of China–Vietnam relations. This year marks the 15th anniversary of the establishment of a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between China and Vietnam. The exchanges between the two countries at all levels are increasingly close, and the consensus reached between China and General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng is being implemented. China regards Vietnam as a priority direction for neighboring diplomacy and a strategic community with a shared future, which is a strategic choice made by China based on the long-term development of bilateral relations. Faced with the increasingly severe and complex international situation, China and Vietnam should uphold the spirit of equality, mutual benefit, unity, mutual trust, and win-win cooperation, work together to seek development, better benefit the people of both countries, and inject more stability into the turbulent and intertwined world.
President Xi Jinping emphasized that both China and Vietnam are Socialist state, comrades with high mutual trust, mutually beneficial partners and friends. Both sides need to deepen the exchange of experience in party governance, adhere to the concept of putting the people first, and firmly support each other in taking a socialist path that is in line with their own national conditions and the modernization path with different characteristics. The two sides should jointly build the "the Belt and Road" in high quality, strengthen the docking of development strategies, give play to complementary advantages, and accelerate practical cooperation in infrastructure, smart customs, green energy and other fields. China is willing to import more marketable Vietnamese products, and welcomes Vietnam to actively participate in the third "the Belt and Road" International Cooperation Summit Forum and the China International Import Expo in the second half of this year. Both sides should enrich cultural exchanges, enhance mutual understanding between the two peoples, especially the younger generation, and solidify the social foundation for the development of bilateral relations. Both sides should jointly oppose "decoupling and chain breaking", oppose the politicization of economic and technological issues, safeguard international fairness and justice and their own development rights, promote the development of the international order towards a more just and reasonable direction, and create a peaceful and stable external environment for the modernization construction of both countries.
