Walked into the Chinese Embassy in Colombia

Recently, the representative of the Silk Road Dialogue Committee walked into the Chinese Embassy in Colombia and held talks with Mr. Lan Hu, the Chinese Ambassador to Colombia. The two sides had in-depth communication on jointly promoting friendly exchanges between China and Colombia and promoting cooperation in cultural tourism and traditional Chinese medicine. The purpose of this meeting is to tell good Chinese stories, spread Chinese culture, implement the "Belt and Road" initiative, and do a good job of "people to people" for the common construction of a community with a shared future for mankind.

Mr. Sheng Mingyong, the representative in Colombia, the director of the Silk Road Dialogue Committee and the general manager of the Colombian Caribbean Resources Investment Development Co., Ltd., went to the Chinese Embassy in Colombia for the talks.

Ambassador Lan welcomed the visit of the Silk Road Dialogue Committee, and affirmed the actions and efforts of the Silk Road Dialogue to tell good Chinese stories, spread Chinese culture and promote Chinese culture to go global. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties on February 7, 1980, Colombia and China have had more than 40 years of exchanges. The two peoples have always adhered to mutual friendship, mutual learning and common progress. The consensus reached by the two countries in 2019 is to expand cooperation in economy and trade, energy, infrastructure, connectivity, digital economy, creative industries and other fields, bringing tangible benefits to the two peoples. It is hoped that the cooperation of the Silk Road Dialogue Committee will continue to promote cultural tourism, traditional Chinese medicine and other exchanges and cooperation between China and Colombia, deepen Colombian people's understanding of Chinese culture, and promote people to people and mutual learning of civilizations.

The Republic of Colombia (Spanish: República de Colombia) is located in the northwest of South America, bordering on the Pacific Ocean in the west, the Caribbean Sea in the north, Venezuela in the east, Brazil in the southeast, Peru and Ecuador in the south, Panama in the northwest. It is a major transportation route between the continents of South and North America, and has access to the Atlantic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean.

The population is mainly Indo European. There is a coastal plain in the west, which is a plateau composed of three parallel Cordillera Mountains in the west, middle and east. There are wide valleys between the mountains, a series of volcanic cones in the south, and alluvial plains in the lower reaches of Magdalena River in the northwest. The waterways are diverse and lakes are widely distributed. Colombia is a resource rich developing country with developed economy, transportation and tourism.

Rich in natural resources, coal, oil and emerald are the main mineral deposits. Bananas, coffee, flowers and other agricultural products are of high quality. The coal reserves are about 24 billion tons, ranking first in Latin America. Oil reserves are 1.8 billion barrels, natural gas reserves are 18.7 billion cubic meters, emerald reserves rank first in the world, bauxite reserves are 100 million tons, and uranium reserves are 40000 tons. In addition, there are gold, silver, nickel, platinum, iron and other minerals.
