During President Hu Jintao's state visit to the Philippines in 2005, the leaders of the two countries confirmed the establishment of a strategic cooperative relationship dedicated to peace and development.

On April 23, 2019, during the second “Belt and Road” International Summit Forum, the Philippine Branch of the Shaanxi New Silk Road Enterprise Development Promotion Association was established in Beijing under the leadership of Mr. Yin Jianfeng, the executive vice president of the Shaanxi New Silk Road Enterprise Development Promotion Association. Mr. Chen Qihuan, accompanied by Philippine President Duterte, who came to China to participate in the second “Belt and Road” International Summit Forum, served as the chairman of the Philippine branch. The establishment of the Philippine branch aims to build an international comprehensive resource docking platform, provide more opportunities for the development of Chinese and Philippine enterprises, and build international brands for both companies, thereby boosting the international development of both companies.
